July 1 – International Joke Day – Drink Slay Coffee

International Joke Day falls on the 1st of July every year. While brands can use this opportunity to post witty and humorous posts to spread a positive and happy perception in the minds of their customers, it is also a great opportunity for them to nag their competitors in a funny yet intriguing way.

Slay Coffee is a brand that dedicates itself to providing premium-quality coffee across India, and its outlets are present in various cities. This brand is known to promote its offerings with a twist of humor and witty sense.

On International Joke Day last year, they decided to take on their natural opponent, i.e., tea. In a post dedicated to coffee lovers, they humorously portrayed the rivalry between tea and coffee. While tea was pretty much confident of winning this argument, coffee eventually won it because it stayed awake longer. You can check out many such witty posts on their social timelines. This humorous post was posted on the 1st of July 2021 to mark International Joke Day on Instagram. It received a lot of re-shares and engagement from the customers. To get a glimpse of what it actually looked like, please check the below image.

July 7 – World Chocolate Day – KitKat

World Chocolate Day is celebrated on the 7th of July every year. It is a special day when people across the world eat and relish their preferred chocolates. They also like to give chocolates as presents to their loved ones and friends. This date also marks the introduction of chocolate to Europe, which happened way back in 1550.

Brands can use this opportunity to spread love and positivity among their customers. They can also organize giveaway contests and deals where they can give away exotic chocolates to their loyal customers. It is also a great occasion for brands that indulge in the manufacturing and business of chocolates and confectionaries. Brands that indulge in bakery items and food products can also launch special food items with a twist of chocolate on this day. It will not only highlight the brand and increase its reach, but the product can prove to be a profitable proposition and product for it.

The world’s favorite break – The perfect balance of chocolate and wafer, there’s a reason KitKat is enjoyed in more than 80 countries. The iconic brand is an international symbol for hitting the pause button on life – to enjoy a well-earned break. From classic fingers to chunky, original to peanut butter, there is a KitKat for everyone.

In Japan alone, flavors include wasabi and sake – while the gift of a KitKat is customary for students sitting their exams. The country’s KitKat Chocolatory even lets you design your own dream KitKat. KitKat is the first global chocolate brand to use 100% sustainably sourced cocoa through the Nestlé Cocoa Plan and Rainforest Alliance certified. Meaning there’s no reason not to pause… and enjoy a break.

July 15 – Give Something Away Day – Mutti Pomodoro USA

July 15th is celebrated as ” Give Something Away Day” across the world. Brands can utilize this opportunity to organize interesting giveaway events and contests through their social media pages. They can also use this opportunity to learn more about their customers, which can be ultimately used in their marketing strategies. The brands that sell online products and gifts can use this opportunity to motivate their customers to buy some special gifts for their friends, family members, and loved ones.

For more than 5 decades, Mutti Pomodoro USA has been a brand that sells crushed tomato purees. It also frequently indulges in giveaways to keep the audience interested in its products and offerings. July 17 – World Emoji Day – Jameson US

Emojis are a popular form of expression in this digital era. People use various types of emojis, stickers, and gifs on social media posts, messages, comments, and other forms of conversions to express their feelings, opinion, and feedback. Brands can utilize this opportunity to understand the perception of their customers about their products, services, or brand image. They can also use World Emoji Day to improve conversation and interaction with their subscribers and potential customers.

Youngsters often use emojis to send a meaningful message or to describe a song or movie title. Brands can follow similar ways to motivate, impress, and lure their customers. They can also express their features, services, and goals through emojis to connect with their audiences better.

Jameson is a popular spirits brand in the United States. On July 18, 2021, they posted a beautiful glass of cocktail and asked their followers to comment in emojis to express the things that they were doing right then. While the post received many witty, humorous, and weird replies, Jameson made an effort to recognize the activities of most of them. This not only seemed to be a fun engagement activity but also helped the brand to learn a little more about their customers, their lifestyles, and their schedules. Posts like this are meant to increase customer interaction and engage them for the ultimate purpose of increasing online conversions. July 20 – World Chess Day – TooYumm

Chess is one of the oldest board games. We all know it involves a lot of strategy and thinking which makes it a very conducive marketing topic. Brand marketers can use aspects of the game such as the king/ queen to depict their brands or products as the most superior in the market. Service marketers can use the strategic tangent of the game to show how their services may help clients’ strategies with the incorporation of said services. Chess is one thing that everyone knows about. When marketers may use certain puns/ jokes they can be sure that the content will be relatable to the majority of their audience.

One of the best chess day posts from last year was by the Indian Snacks brand TooYumm. In this witty post, too yum portrays its product as the king in the game of chess. The copy talks about how their product can help consumer tackle their hunger cravings by checkmating it. The major market for TooYumm is India, where chess is among the most popular board games making this post very relatable to their viewers

Parting Words…

While brands need to use these important days in July 2022 smartly, they must also ensure that none of their content hurts the emotions or sentiments of their customers. For example, making fun of enraged customers in the wrong way on International Joke Day might harm the reputation of the brands. Including controversial statements and captions is also not recommended for such posts.

If they manage to create some meaningful and engaging content on these dates, July can certainly prove to be one of the best months for their content calendar. Also, each day can incorporate either an image, video, infographics or other content forms wisely. Moreover, brands should also use social analytics tools and platforms to understand the thinking and behavior of their customers. It will not only help them to design their future content strategies but might also help them improve the products or offerings.
