Reading Time: 6 minutes

While Valentine’s Day overshadows February’s fame amongst content marketers, they’d be more than happy to know that the month is chock-full of other special days and holidays. Creating posts for special days is trendy, and brands look for opportunities to promote their products through content over these occasions.

Take, for example, Strawberry Day, which is celebrated on February 26 every year. Makers of jams, jellies, suppliers of fresh fruits and juices, and many other brands associated with food could utilize the day as a befitting celebration and promotional strategy.

Also, as February is remembered chiefly for Valentine’s Day and the whole Valentine’s week, content creators have a lot of opportunities to capitalize on the same. This article contains some unique ideas which you can include in your Content Calendar of February.

How did brands use the special days to create content in February last year?

Here’s a glimpse of how brands used important dates in February in the previous years.

🌟  World Cancer Day

World Cancer Day is celebrated on 4th February every year. Organizations come together to show their support for cancer patients on this day. They motivate cancer survivors and those fighting various types of cancers in their lives.

Last year, Indus Health Plus used this day to spread cancer awareness. They organized an event in Pune in which people were supposed to paint the city walls with colors obtained from cancer ribbons. The awareness messages were targeted towards educating the masses.

Similar posts were published by Karvy Growth Hub and Religare Online. Their posts reflected cancer awareness and motivated the people to inspire cancer warriors.

🌟  Mother Language Day

International Mother Language Day is celebrated on 21st February every year. It is celebrated to avoid the disintegration of culture and emphasize linguistic diversity. Brands use content around this day to promote the importance of the mother’s tongue and its impact on education and schooling years.

Helo Care used this opportunity to improve engagement in their community. They promoted #Me-and-my-language from 18th to 24th February, where they also conducted activities like quizzes to test the knowledge of regional languages. Exciting prizes were given away to the ones who understood the essence of the regional dialects. As a result, the campaign was a huge success and improved community engagement by many folds.

In 2019, Coca-Cola started a language campaign in Bangladesh to highlight the concepts of the new and old Bengali languages. They published a video advertisement that reflected how old and new Bengali languages could be brought together.

The campaign deeply connected Bengalis with the brand emotionally as it reverberated the spirit of their mother’s tongue, which is a critical sentiment for the people of Bangladesh. Watch the stunning video here.

Also, for instance, MadChef, a popular burger joint, posted a simple question asking what a burger is called in Bengali! The post went viral as fans started coming up with ridiculous answers in the comments section. The best part? The post was so popular it got shared posthumously and garnered footprints on the company website.

🌟  Act of Kindness Day

Random Act of Kindness Day is celebrated on 17th February every year. Brands can run giveaway campaigns to fortify their customer retention and brand-loyalty-building strategies.

Since 2011, KLM Airlines has been sending personalized gifts to surprise its customers on this day. In an ingenious campaign, it finds deserving customers through Twitter and uses its social media account to check which kind of gifts they might like.

Interflora used this opportunity in 2011 and sent random flowers to their customers.

Wheat Thins, a US-based cracker brand, ran a ‘The Crunch is Calling’ campaign where they gifted their fans with a whole pallet of crackers. They used Twitter to find the most deserving fans. On YouTube, they got around 1.5 million views where they posted a video recording the reactions of their fans when they were greeted with their products.

🌟  Change Your Password Day

Change Your Password Day is celebrated across the world on 1st February. It is celebrated to spread the awareness and importance of changing passwords regularly for security measures.

Brands can use this opportunity to promote how they care for their customers’ security and data privacy while giving a gentle reminder to change the passwords.

🌟  National Science Day

National Science Day is celebrated on 28th February in India to commemorate the Raman effect discovery of Sir C. V. Raman. A simple yet effective video by EdisonOS, a platform dedicated to supporting EdTech business in India, was posted on Twitter last year.

The video presented some of the renowned innovators of the country and pledged to create more such innovators. It was well received and got retweeted several times. Click on this link to watch the video.

On this National Science Day, let's pledge to create more innovators for this country. Jaihind!#NationalScienceDay #science #scientists #cvraman #edisonos #edisonarty pic.twitter.com/PeSSdtWMPx

🌟  Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s day falls on February 14, but celebrations of valentine’s week start on the 7th. Therefore, you can start promoting your products or services by the beginning of February by creating funny, romantic, or exciting posts surrounding the occasion.

Here’s what brands did in Valentine’s Day week in previous years

Dunkin Donuts organized a ‘Dunkin Love’ contest for Valentine’s Day in 2017. The fans just had to share how Dunkin Donuts contributed to their love story on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat by using the hashtag #DunkinLoveContest.

In addition, the fans had to share a sweet couple photo along with the post as well. The winner received $2500 along with a year-long supply of free donuts and coffee from the food chain.

This promotional campaign received a massive response as users scrambled to post priceless content through their social media accounts. Here’s a link to a YouTube video shared by their customers.

Note: While using important dates, don’t forget to use specific and popular hashtags as they help you reach a wider audience.

Conclusion

February is always a special month for digital marketers as it comprises different special days. However, the impact of your content will only depend on how innovative, unique, meaningful, and creative your ideas are. As a content creator, focus on your audience and what can motivate or help you connect with them.

Finally, use perfectly designed creatives and meaningful captions to improve the effectiveness of your content marketing ideas. Try something different to outshine your competitors and add value to your customers’ experience by including insightful infographics in your content pieces.
