Reading Time: 2 minutes

Social media marketing for a local business can be tough sometimes. How often can one come up with suitable content that is engaging enough for a local community to follow you?

So here’s a list of some strategies that might work for local businesses:

1)   Post Content about Activities in Your Local Area

You can search for kinds of stuff like upcoming music concerts, parades, summer or winter camps, food fests, tech fests, etc. Usually, there is something happening around almost every month. Make a social media calendar and start posting about this stuff. Posting it in the local community, forums can get you a huge follower base. Seeing the value in your content, people will share your content more, and in the process, people will start to recognize you.

2)   Follow other Local Businesses

Follow some of the local businesses in your area that is in the entertainment space, restaurants, kids’ fun clubs or playschools, something which involves more of family activities. Follow these people, because these are the ones generally hold events, promotions, camps every now and then and once you get to know about any event be the first to share it with your local community.

Coming to know about the events, more people would find you as a useful resource of information and start following you, because you keep posting valuable content that the local community is excited about. You are doing the research for them and it just makes their work easy. Following you keeps them informed. Seeing the number of followers, these brands might collaborate with you or maybe a new business or a new branch of a brand in the area might hire you as an influencer to promote them.

3)   Talk to the Audience about your Journey

This is the essential part. Having done with the above two steps, the next step is storytelling. Consistently share your stories, share the lessons that you have learned in life. Make a list and talk about the challenges you have faced in the past and what your audience can face if they are planning to start a business. Post the story in the form of textual content with some nice pictures. Talk about how your business is doing these days. Upload pictures of you working or a happy customer or something which is authentic and you might find engaging for the audience out there. Next what you can do is hire a photographer to take pictures of your office (both exteriors and interiors), your team working, you working and just stock some to share it with your inspiring stories in the future.

The above-mentioned content strategies will help your local business grow and attract your local audience and who knows people might just come and buy your products/services, based on the efforts made on social media.
